Sisterhood

Sisterhood is the essence of Phi Mu. It is what we were founded on, and what keeps us going! Sisterhood is about spending time with a group of women who are more than just people who enter and exit your life, but friends that you will have long after college is over. Any woman who joins Phi Mu will leave with countless memories that will last a lifetime!

One of our favorite Phi Mu traditions has become our annual Sisterhood Retreat! As a chapter, we take three days to prep for recruitment, learn more about our fellow sisters, participate in bonding activities and crafts, and so much more. This is a perfect time to catch up before returning to class, and also to prepare for our recruitment week in the fall.

What if I told you that there was a week when new members are showered with presents and treats? Well, it's true! This week is known as our Big/Little Week! This week occurs during the new member period known as the Phi Period. A Big Sister is a active member of our chapter who is there as a mentor for our Phis. A Big Sister assists her Little with whatever they may need - from a late night phone call, to a shopping buddy. During the week, the Big Sisters give their Littles a gift each day with a clue to their identity. At the end of the week, the chapter has a Big/Little Reveal. This is where the new members find out who their Big Sisters are for the first time! This is a very memorable event as our chapter family trees grow and new members gain new connections in our sorority!

Big/Little Reveal Winter 2019!

Inspiration Week is one of the most exciting weeks for our new members!  They start the week as Phis, but by the end of the week they are initiated members of Phi Mu!  It's both a great way for the new members to bond further with their sisters and also for the active sisters to get to know them better! On Monday, all Phi Mus gather at the Rock behind the University Center and the new members paint it for the first time. The Phis and their Phi Director plan events for throughout the week which all sisters are welcome to! In the past, these have included a hot chocolate bar, a night at the movies, an ice cream social with our alum, dinner at a local restaurant, and a night of Zumba! When the weekend comes, the new members are officially initiated into Phi Mu!
